Each year our Board of Directors and Advisory Board work to organize an annual event called “Cowboys for Kids.” It is essentially three large events in one weekend.
On Friday night, we host the “Roping the Stars Gala,” highlighting many rodeo and western television artists, Texas country music artists, and professional athletes. All of these celebrities give their time, talent and donations toward helping our kids. The evening features dinner, music, a key note speaker, and live and silent auctions.
On Saturday morning, we host a “Children’s Stick Horse Rodeo” for kids ages ten and under. Many of our Center kids participate in this event and have a blast. Kids compete in four events on their stick horses. Each child receives a t-shirt, bandana, stick horse and a contestants ribbon for participating. They also compete for placing ribbons and trophy buckles. They get to spend the morning with celebrities and rodeo personalities. One of the bull fighters is actually an FBI Agent who donates his time each year to be with our kids. On Saturday night, we host a Ranch Rodeo and Celebrity Team Roping Event with specialty acts.
Cowboys for Kids helps us raise about $300,000 each year for the Center and our Board invests a great deal of time making sure this is an amazing community event!
